Nancy P. Marquez passed on peacefully on July 15, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 70. She was born on September 2, 1954, in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Margaret and Robert Pollock. Also passing before her was her beloved husband of 46 years, Peter Marquez.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Nancy dedicated her life to the service of others, leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion. Together with her husband, Nancy worked tirelessly for the Hope House Foundation. Her life’s work was characterized by her unwavering dedication to helping those in need, whether they were disabled or unhoused. Clients loved her because she treated everyone with respect and kindness, embodying the spirit of empathy and understanding.
Nancy’s interests were as warm and inviting as her personality. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and solving puzzles, always ensuring those around her felt welcomed and cared for. Her first question to anyone who entered her home was invariably, “Are you hungry?” She always made sure you were fed! Above all, she treasured spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Marquez; her son, Douglass Marquez (Bryce Davenport); her grandchildren, Robert Marquez (Melanie), Joseph Motley, and Justin Motley; and her great-granddaughter, Emma Marquez. Nancy also leaves behind many extended relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
