I was deeply saddened to hear of Nancy’s passing. She was a Southern lady through and through, the true epitome of a 'Steel Magnolia.' Her charm, those gorgeous soulful eyes, and her supreme, fabulous sense of humor are etched forever in my memory. Nancy accepted nothing less than excellence from everyone around her. She had a unique way with her students and colleagues, demanding a level of respect that she earned tenfold through her own dedication. I will always smile remembering the precision and grace with which she delivered her signature, 'Bless your little soul.' She was a force of nature and a cherished friend. I will miss her greatly, and I feel so fortunate to have known her.

I was fortunate enough to overlap with Nancy at St. Andrews, where we worked closely together on the 8th grade team. She was a wonderful colleague, a great teacher, and had the right combination of high expectations and sense of humor necessary to impact (and survive!) 8th graders. I'm also grateful to her as a professional resource — when I was considering new opportunities that included Flint Hill, she provided outstanding guidance that helped me choose FH as my next home. Thank you, Nancy, for your incredible impact as an educator, and condolences to your loving family.

I will always cherish our years together at FHS, teaching 2nd grade. Neither distance or time ever diminished our friendship. As an educator, Nancy's tough-love approach defined her as a well-intentioned, compassionate, and lovingly supportive person who motivated and guided her students, her children and everyone who knew her, to strive to be the best possible representation of themselves. She set high expectations for herself as well. She exhibited amazing strength and courage throughout her life. She was a sincere, honest and determined woman who always strove to make a positive difference in the lives of those she touched, professionally and personally. I admired her steadfast commitment to pushing the boundaries to achieve the ultimate expectations she set for her students and herself. I remain forever grateful and honored to have worked with her throughout her tenure at FHS. Your legacy lives on in the memories and hearts of all who were blessed to know you Nancy!
