Nora Ann Rose, 80, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025. Born in Providence, Rhode Island she was a vibrant, kind-hearted woman whose warmth and joy touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend known for her unwavering love and devotion.
Nora’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandson Colin. Her nurturing spirit created cherished memories for her wide circle of loved ones and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Whittle and daughter Kerri Rose; her parents Vincent and Eva Ritter, brothers and sisters Patricia Andrews, brother-in-law George Andrews, Norman Ritter, sister-in-law Dee Ritter, Richard Carnevale, sister-in-law Ann Carnevale; and cousin Virginia “Jean” Medeiros who was like a sister to her.
She is survived by her son, daughter in-law and Grandson: Kevin, Karen and Colin Rose of Virginia Beach, VA; and her brothers Vincent Ritter of Warwick, Rhode Island; David Atella of W. Palm Beach, Florida; and sister in Law Linda Ritter of Lincoln, Rhode Island, and ex husband Joseph Rose of Gulfport, Mississippi.
Nieces and nephews, Christina Andrade, Nicole Andrews, Tina Valliere, Debbie Monteiro, and Lori Marchetti; nephews, Vincent Z. Ritter, Evan Ritter, Keith Carnevale, Norman Ritter, Jeffrey Hall, and George Andrews Jr.
Wanita Tull and Cecile Cabral who were extremely close to her, speaking to her for hours daily; John & Mike Reis, Donna & Nancy Kurtz, Lisa, Ashley, & Justin Reis, and Gary Roy who held a special place in her heart; extended family: Connie, Michael, Jess, Grayson, Taylor, and Danielle Miller; Grady & Wyatt Gengler, Sandra Kay Bennett; along with many cousins, great Neices, great nephews,, in laws, and friends.
Nora’s legacy of love, kindness, and joy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A brief graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at 10:00am Saturday, October 18 at 6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30am Saturday, October 18 at Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church at 2020 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow the service.
