Patricia Ann Davis, 78, of Virginia Beach went to be with the Lord peacefully with her loving family by her side on March 11, 2026. She was born on February 28, 1948, in Inman, Virginia, to the late Ruth and Ewing Wallen. Also preceding her in death were her grandmother, Lily “Big Mom” Kesterson, with whom she shared a very close relationship; her brother, June Pannell; and her son-in-law, Eric John.

A proud member of the Appalachia High School class of 1966, it was there that she met the love of her life, Paul Davis. They would share their vows on March 4, 1967 and spend 59 wonderful years together, building a life centered around family and shared dreams.

Pat would give birth to her first child, Mark, in 1969 and soon after set off on the adventure shared by many Navy wives. Her first stop would be to Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. From there the family would drop anchor in Patuxent River, MD, where she would give birth to her second child, Melissa, in 1972. As with most military families, she was on the move again for a brief stay in Norfolk, VA in 1974 and would take up permanent residence in Virginia Beach, VA in 1975.

Wadsworth Homes, a military housing complex, would be her home for 11 years until 1986. Here she would make many of her life-long friends with Ann Tanner & Lorri Braa standing out amongst the many she shared a common bond, that of a Navy wife. Here she would also find herself as the sole caregiver with the Navy sending Paul on numerous 6 or more months deployments.

This is where Pat truly shined. Always making sure that her children were exceptionally cared for and keeping them actively involved in many activities, from baseball, football, bowling, gymnastics, dance & many others. She amazingly balanced the rigors of daily life while giving her children every opportunity to flourish. During this time, she even enrolled herself in classes at TCC, learning computer programming in the early days of COBOL & Fortran. She spent many overnight hours in the computer science labs writing these programs on punch cards.

In 1986, she would find the home she would cherish until her passing. Applying her no fear country girl attitude, she left her stamp on every aspect of this house. From having custom built furniture pieces, teaching herself to wallpaper, experimenting with different painting techniques and installing wood flooring throughout, there is not an inch that doesn’t have her fingerprint on it. The same is true for the exterior, where her love of dogwoods, azaleas and rose bushes is all too apparent.

Additionally, Pat was an avid collector of shoes and purses, a hobby that brought her much joy. She was found many times sitting in her recliner admiring her latest pair and contemplating the best outfit to wear with them.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Paul Davis; her children, Mark Davis (Ann) and Melissa Davis John; and her cherished grandchildren, Kayla Davis Hammond (Alex) and Tyler Hansen. She also leaves behind her precious great-granddaughter, Lyra Hammond; her brother, Ronnie Wallen (Olga); her niece, Pamela Ballard; her nephew, Ricky Pannell; and many extended relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
