Patricia Asher passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Chesapeake, Virginia, at the age of 72. She was born on December 10, 1952 in Illinois to the late J. W. and Betty Asher. Also preceding her in death was the father of her children, Dave Glenn.
Pat was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by her passions, accomplishments, and the love she shared with family and friends. She had a love for travel and backpacked across Europe out of highschool. Shortly after Europe, she began her career as a bookkeeper for El Torito. Her thirst for knowledge led her back to academia, and she graduated summa cum laude from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering. This achievement marked the beginning of her career as an Environmental Engineer, where she applied her expertise and creativity to make a lasting impact on the world.
Outside of her professional life, Pat was a vibrant soul with a diverse array of interests. She found joy in reading and expressing herself through macramé, painting, and drawing. Music and movement brought her happiness, and she delighted in dancing and singing. Known for her spirited nature, Pat loved engaging in debates, never hesitating to challenge conventions and follow her own path. Her sweet tooth was legendary, with a particular fondness for chocolate. She was truly one of a kind and is already deeply missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles Nelson; her daughters, Niki Glenn and Andrea Dunnigan; her son-in-law, RJ Dunnigan; her granddaughter, Eliza Dunnigan; her sisters, Jamie Carey (Dave) and Rogennia Asher (Victor); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Pat’s life is being planned. Details will be provided here once available.
