Paul was truly the life of the party. His laughter, jokes and warm smile filled every room he entered. He loved playing cards, listening to great music and spending time with those he loved most. When he wasn’t sharing a laugh, Paul was gifted with a mechanical mind. His hands were rarely still. He could often be found tinkering away on one of his many projects. From concrete finishing to fixing lawn mowers or chopping wood, he took pride in everything he tackled. His favorite sayings – “Get’er done! and “Did I do that?” – perfectly shows the person he was.
Paul’s memory will forever live on through the laughter, love and lessons he shared. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Washington; his children, Paul “PJ” Washington and Licia Washington; his grandson, Holden Washington. He is lovingly remembered by his in-laws, Saunders and Jackie Hodges. He is also survived by his siblings, Oletha Etheridge, Franklin Washington, Jerry Washington, Leroy Washington, Linda Washington and his twin Paula Washington; uncles, Barry Allen and Lee Roy Carter as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins including Paulette Carter, Vanessa Carter, Dennis Carter, Denise Carter, Brittany Ross, Fanntay Williams, Latrice Holmes, Takema Etheridge, Sasha Washington, Jerry Washington, Taletha Etheridge, Charlize Wilson and D’Angelo Wilson. He leaves behind some of his dearest friends, Harold Corbin, Calvin Grimes and many more.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie Carter and Laura Mae Banks; uncles, Billy Carter; aunt, Shirley Carter and beloved mother, Joyce Washington.
Paul’s humor, generosity and vibrant personality will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His memory will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him.
Paul will have a Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025 at J.K. Redman Funeral Home.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all who cared for Paul, with special appreciation to the Washington family and the compassionate staff at Riverside Hospice. Everyone’s kindness and support brought comfort and dignity to Paul in his final days.
