Philip Paul “Sparkplug” Parnham, Jr., a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, in Norfolk, VA, at the age of 74. Born on May 7, 1951, in Norfolk, VA, Philip lived a life full of passion, craftsmanship, and love.
Known affectionately as “Sparkplug,” Philip had a lifelong career as an auto mechanic, where his skillful hands and sharp mind kept engines running smoothly and friends’ lives richer. His enthusiasm for cars was only rivaled by his passion for woodworking, both pursuits that showcased his dedication to creating and building with care. Philip’s meticulous attention to detail and innovative spirit inspired those around him, leaving a lasting legacy of creativity and perseverance.
Philip’s heart was as large as his talent. He never missed an opportunity to share a meal with his beloved sister Molly, his partner in crime, relishing in the joy of good food and even better company. His laughter and warmth were constants in the lives of those who knew him.
Preceded in death by his loving parents, Philip and Julia Parnham and his high school sweetheart and lifelong love, Helen Parnham. Sparkplug is survived by his three children — Holly (David), Paul, and Thomas (Deanna) — who carry forward his legacy of love and strength. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and five sisters who will forever cherish his memory.
His family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with those who passed before him. Philip will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
