Ralph James Copenhaver, 89, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. He was born on November 14, 1936, in Marlinton, West Virginia.
In 1944, Ralph moved with his family to Long Island, New York, where he would spend much of his life building a home, raising a family, and forming lifelong friendships. In 1956, he proudly joined the United States Army Reserves and served his country with honor until receiving an honorable discharge in 1962.
Ralph was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent many years employed with the New York State Yard before retiring. His strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family were qualities that defined his life.
Ralph was first married to Patricia Murdock. Later, in 1994, he married the love of his life, Linda Copenhaver. Together they shared 43 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, companionship, and devotion.
Above all else, Ralph cherished his family. He was a proud father to seven children: Pam Copenhaver, Bret Copenhaver, Dawn Copenhaver, Randy Copenhaver, Susan Copenhaver, Michael Chieffo, and Robert Chieffo. His family continued to grow through the generations, and he leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy.
Ralph will be remembered for his strength, dedication to his family, and the many memories he created with those who loved him. He leaves behind a large and loving family who will miss him deeply but will forever cherish the time they shared with him.
His life was a testament to love, resilience, and the importance of family, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
