Virginia Beach, VA  –  Ralph Scott Brown, 56, passed away at his home on January 29, 2026. A longtime resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Scott was born on April 15, 1969, in Atlanta, Georgia. He lived a life defined by service, generosity, creativity, and deep care for those around him.

Scott proudly served his country for 37 years, first on active duty with the United States Navy and then as a civilian Senior Radar Tech Engineer with the U.S. Navy. Known for his technical skill, reliability, and strong work ethic, he was preparing to retire at the end of February after decades of dedicated service.

Beyond his professional life, Scott had an exceptionally generous heart. He was extremely talented in his craftsmanship and artistic pursuits, with skills as a mechanic and woodworker that reflected both creativity and precision. He took great pride in working with his hands and was always willing to help a neighbor or friend in need. Scott also had a wonderful sense of humor—he loved to make people laugh, lifted spirits wherever he went, and carried himself with a positive outlook that others gravitated toward.

During this difficult time of loss, family and friends are united in their love for Scott as they mourn him together—another testament to how deeply he cared for the people in his life. They find comfort in knowing that Scott is now reunited in heaven with his beloved parents, Ralph Barnes Brown and Mary Margaret Burkhart Brown, who preceded him in death when he was just a year old.

Scott is survived by a loving extended family, including his uncles Ronald Burkhart and wife Donna, Edward Burkhart and wife Vicky, Peter Brown, and Thomas Brown; his aunts Marilynn Brown Lee and Jacquelyn Brown Dickson; his cousins; and many other relatives who will miss him dearly.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many neighbors and friends in Virginia Beach for the kindness, friendship, and support they showed Scott over the years.

A funeral service will be held at a later date in Sarasota, Florida. Interment will follow at Palm–Robarts Memorial Park in Sarasota, where Scott will be laid to rest alongside his parents.
