Richard Anthony Greubel, a cherished son, brother, father, and friend, passed away on October 16, 2025, in his hometown of Newport News, VA. Born on September 25, 1955, Richard lived a full and vibrant life, reaching the age of 70.
Richard’s journey began in Newport News, where he grew up with a strong sense of community and family values. A graduate of Denbigh High School and Thomas Nelson Community College, he embarked on a career with Empire Inc, dedicating his professional life to the craft of cement block and pipe making and the work upon the machines that created them. His work was not just a job but a testament to his commitment and diligence, qualities that defined him throughout his life.
Beyond his professional achievements, Richard was a man of diverse interests and passions. He found joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing and immersing himself in the imaginative worlds of science fiction books, movies, and TV shows. These hobbies were more than pastimes; they were avenues through which he connected with others and shared his enthusiasm for storytelling and adventure.

Preceded in death by his loving parents, Theda N. Newcomb and Arvel B. Greubel, and his brothers Paul Greubel and Arvel “Ben” Greubel, Richard is survived by his beloved son, Anthony L. He also leaves behind his brothers Jim Greubel, George Greubel, and Robert Greubel, his sister Lori Greubel Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
