Richard “Rick” Bradley Osborne passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 in Norfolk, Virginia. Rick was born January 24, 1949 to Albert and Lorraine (Bradley) Osborne in Wausau, Wisconsin. The family moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia when Rick was around the age of 12. He was a graduate of Kellam High School. He served a stint in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
One of Rick’s first jobs, and one which he loved, was building surfboards with Bob White, but he spent most of his years in the carpet/vinyl installation business. He had a very high work ethic and was excellent at what he did. He was also very creative and occasionally designed custom carpets for clients. Rick loved summertime and anything to do with the water; surfing, going to the beach, fishing, or just sitting at home watching the various birds out on the river.
In addition to being predeceased by his parents, Rick was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Paul Bowman and Pete Geckeler, and is survived by his ex-wife Ruth (Messick) Osborne; three children Christopher (Ruth) Osborne, Eric (Jessica) Osborne and Whitney (Matt) Charlton; four granddaughters Natalie and Lila Osborne, and Naomi and Rilee Charlton; four siblings Sue Bowman, Harold (Fay) Osborne, Cathy (George) Sitaras and Sally (Bruce) Geckeler: and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Surfers Healing of VB in memory of Rick. A small memorial service will be held later this summer. Condolences may be left for the family at www.vacremationsociety.com
