Richard "Dick" Nelson Brown Jr.

May 11, 1932 - October 24, 2022

Richard N. Brown, Jr. (The Maple Man) of West Springfield, Va. departed this earth on Monday, October 24^th, 2022. Dick was born to R. Nelson Brown, Sr. and Grace Ethel Pawlik in Antwerp, NY in 1932. He was a graduate of Antwerp High School, Cornell University, and Penn State University. While attending PSU, he met his wife of 54 years Lida J. Rothey Brown who preceded him in death.

He is survived by son Rick and his wife Janine; daughter Kathy; and grandchildren, Morgan and Sydney. A celebration of life service will be held in the spring at Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington, Virginia.

Dick was always alert to what needed to be done and always willing and able to do it! He kept Faith’s equipment and systems running long after they needed replacing! He was also a concerned and helpful friend . He will definitely be missed!

Kathy and Rick, Howard and I are so sorry for the loss of your dad. I have many fond memories of Mr. Brown. I do think of him as the Maple Man. He would take Howard's honey and whip it, so good! Your dad was such a wonderful and kind man. Thinking of him at church makes me smile. Hugs to you all. Love, Leslie and Howard
