Richard Harrison Burton Jr., born on November 8, 1948, in Prince George’s County, Maryland, passed away on September 28, 2025, in Hayes, Virginia, at the age of 76.
Richard lived a life full of passion and dedication, touching the hearts of all who knew him. He served his country honorably in the Army, exemplifying courage and commitment. Following his military service, Richard found fulfillment in his work as a skilled carpenter, where he applied his hands and heart to create and build.
Music was the rhythm of Richard’s soul. Whether singing with joy or playing his cherished acoustic and bass guitars, he found solace and expression through melody and harmony. His music brought people together, creating cherished memories with family and friends.
Above all, Richard treasured his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Lauren Burton, and a loving father to his sons, Rick and Matthew. His family was his greatest joy, and he spent countless hours surrounded by their love and laughter.
Richard was preceded in death by his loving parents, Geneva Ringer and Richard H. Burton Sr., and his beloved son, Matthew D. Burton. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by his wife Lauren, his son Richard III, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and all of his special music friends who were like family to him.
Though he has departed from this world, Richard’s spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched. His life was an inspiration, reminding us all to live with purpose, share our passions, and cherish the time spent with loved ones.
