Richard Samuel Taylor, a beloved brother, friend, and U.S. Army veteran, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, in Hampton, Virginia, at the age of 84. Born on June 7, 1941, in New York, Richard lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and service.
Richard served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army, a commitment that shaped much of his character and values. Following his military service, he worked diligently as a retail associate, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor.
A man of great personal strength, Richard celebrated 34 years of sobriety, a milestone he held with immense pride. His journey inspired many, and his unwavering determination was a testament to his character. Richard was also a member of the Parkview Church of God in Newport News. Richard loved racing at Langley Speedway and Norfolk Admirals Hockey.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Samuel F. Taylor Sr., his mother, Irene Heggin Taylor, and his brother, Samuel F. Taylor Jr. He is survived by his brother, Charles Taylor, and his dear friend, Debra Nair, who will remember him fondly for his kindness and steadfast spirit.
Richard’s legacy is one of perseverance, loyalty, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
