Robert “Brian” Maguire, 71, of Virginia Beach, VA died at his home on June 6, 2025. He was born on June 29, 1953 in New Jersey to the late Ed and Betty Maguire. Also preceding him in death were the love of his life and partner for over 30 years, Ellen Mitchell, and his younger brothers, Michael and Richie Maguire.
Left to cherish his memory are his step-daughter, Amanda Mitchell (Mike Gotto); mother-in-law, Thelma Perin; sisters-in-law, Cathy and Wendy Smyth; and nephew, Michael Smyth (Heather).
Brian was raised in Union, NJ and graduated from Union High School. He was a weekend warrior with the National Guard and worked for many years for General Motors in Elizabeth, NJ. He also spent a lot of time caddying at several golf courses in New Jersey. Two of his favorite memories from this time were caddying for a New Jersey mayor and meeting President Bill Clinton on the links. After moving to Virginia, Brian worked in a print shop for over 10 years.
In his free time, Brian could often be found watching golf on tv and fishing whenever he had the opportunity. His sister-in-law, Wendy, once plunked him in the middle of George Washington National Forest so that he could fish to his heart’s desire. He enjoyed cruising with Ellen and loved to travel, making sure to work in time to go fishing wherever he went. Brian was a war history buff and an eager guinea pig whenever Ellen and Amanda tried out new recipes in the kitchen, especially desserts!
Brian will be dearly missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
