Virginia Beach – Robert Daniel Panels passed away peacefully at home, as was his wish, on March 31, 2026. Bob, as he was known to most people, was born and raised in Syracuse, NY to Daniel and Effie Panels. Even after moving to Virginia in 1975, a part of his heart always remained in Syracuse. He was a die-hard Syracuse sports fan.
Bob was known for his outgoing personality and his genuine interest in others. This trait served him well in many areas of his life, including a career he loved working for the Lowe’s Contractor Yard. He began his career in sales and worked his way up to store manager where he formed many close relationships with clients and co-workers over the years.
Bob was extremely proud of his Greek heritage. He particularly enjoyed being able to surprise many Greek restaurant owners with his ability to speak Greek, and the instant connection that often came with these conversations.
Bob’s big personality touched many lives, especially his family who adored him. He is survived by his wife and love of his life for 55 years, Patricia; his daughter, Jennifer Whitley (Chris); his son, Dan Panels; his brothers, Damon and Peter Panels; and his sister, Lisa Butler.
At Bob’s request, no funeral services will be held. He loved happy times and living life to its fullest. His wish was that those around him continue to do the same and remember all of their good times together.
