I just learned of Bob's passing, one year later! I am so very sorry to hear of this. I helped Bob plan at least 10 reunions in the Hampton Roads area, he used our company for all of them. He and I would always go to lunch and have an elaborate planning session, and I thoroughly enjoyed every interaction with him. He was so kind, and always remembered me with USS Iwo Jima tokens, notebooks, calendars etc., many of which I still have and use. He gave me beautiful framed pictures of the ship, certificates of appreciation, plaques and much more. Bob was a meticulous planner, with strict attention to detail and making sure that his shipmates would have an excellent time on tours and activities. He loved his dogs, and always showed me their pictures. He was a gentle soul and one of the friendliest clients I ever worked with. I counted him as a friend, not just a client. Our lead tour guide, Nancy Baker, also had a very special relationship with Bob and also sends her heartfelt condolences. Sincerely, Anne Phillips - former President, Phillips Destination Management Services/Discover Coastal Virginia (business closed Jan. 2021)

I will always remember my uncle, Bob, as a kind, jovial and decent person. His Navy career took him around the globe, and when he had shore leave, he always came to visit our family. At those visits, he told interesting stories, had pictures and slides of far-away places which piqued my interest in travel when I was young. Later, his pictures and stories focused on his beloved dogs and while I never got to personally meet them, his vivid descriptions made me feel as if I had. When he recently informed my mother and me by telephone his time was short, he was bravely able to objectively see the trajectory of his remaining days, but with humor indicating he regretted his sister (age 100) would outlive him. I am fortunate to have known you Bob, and I hope to see you again and hear your laughter in another dimension.

Mr. Mac was a very special patient and friend at our dental office for a number of years. I always enjoyed hearing stories and seeing pictures of his dogs .As well as the chocolates that he would bring with him. He always wanted an early appointment so he could head right out to his favorite breakfast restaurant. He will be greatly missed!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Mac was my long-time, long-distance friend and so much more. After we met in the 2000s when he was planning the USS Iwo Jima Class Association's reunions, we never lost touch. I moved a few times, but emails and greeting cards were exchanged regularly. He loved his labradors retrievers and I love my golden retrievers. That gave us an instant bond. Once he even sent my dog, Eli, a Dog Book. He always made me smile. Bob, you were a wonderful, kind, sweet man. You will be missed. And remember ..especially when I go to the mailbox. So I'll end with my usual written closing. Your Friend, Lisa
