Chesapeake~Ronald Dale Thomasson, age 69, has started his journey to Heaven.  He began his battle against glioblastoma brain cancer in February and passed away at home surrounded by familyon Friday, July 26, 2019.  He was born September 26, 1949 in Missouri.  He grew up in Illinois where he met his wife of 50 years, Sandy.  Together they had two children, Steven and Stacie.  He worked for Verizon as a cable splicer and FiOS technician for 46 years until he retired in 2015.  He enjoyed being with his family, his dog, Gigi, and he was an avid marksman.  He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.  He is survived by his wife, Sandy, his children and their spouses, Steven, Kristen, Stacie and Mike, and his grandchildren, Amber, Nicholas, Ashley, Michael, Shawn and Jadyn.  A Catholic funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 1st at 11:00am at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach.  The Rite of Committal will follow at Church of the Ascension.
