Sally Mastin Henderson, born February 22, 1943, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, surrounded by love. She lived her life with grace, independence, and a deep commitment to the people and causes she cared about.
Sally was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Trey Howse; her beloved grandchildren, Emily Kaiser Pirrone, Eric Kaiser, and Olivia Howse; and her cherished relatives, Margaret Weaver, Sean Weaver, and Holly Weaver. She was preceded in death by her two children, Susan Howse Kaiser and Kurt Howse.
A dedicated educator, Sally spent many years as a special education teacher and speech pathologist, touching countless lives with her compassion, patience, and unwavering belief in her students. Her commitment to helping others extended far beyond the classroom. She was a faithful member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church and generously volunteered thousands of hours with the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia; the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida; the VBUMC Potter’s House in Virginia Beach, Virginia; and public libraries in both Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Vero Beach, Florida.
Sally lived out her later years exactly as she wished—at home, independently, and with dignity. She passed peacefully, without pain. In her final moments, she was comforted by the presence of her granddaughter, who was by her side offering love and support.
Sally’s legacy is one of kindness, service, and quiet strength. She leaves behind a family who adored her and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
