Samuel R. Barrett, III, 71, of Virginia Beach passed away on February 7, 2021 from a heart attack. A proud double hoo, Sam received a BA in History from the University of Virginia and then went on to graduate from the Darden School of Business. After a stint in New York, Sam returned to his native Norfolk and worked as a Financial Advisor for over 35 years, ending his career with Wells Fargo Advisors. A lifelong learner, Sam was obsessed with history, architecture, and art. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling through Europe and skiing with his son.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jan, his son, Morgan, his sister, Pamela Sisson of Richmond, and his stepmother Genevieve Barrett of Norfolk.
To celebrate the decade of Sam’s service to the community driving the Salvation Army soup truck, the family welcomes donations to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
