Sheila W. Shepard, born on May 21, 1942, in South Hampton, NY, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, in Williamsburg, VA, at the age of 83. She lived a life marked by dedication to her family and her work, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.
Sheila served with distinction as the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Yorktown, where her commitment and leadership were deeply valued. She studied at Marymount Undergraduate College and John Hopkins Graduate School. She often told the family that they were related to the famed Admiral Halsey which may have been the inspiration in her career in life. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sheila found joy in gardening, tending to her plants with the same care and attention she gave to her family and friends. Her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, always blooming with vibrant life.
A devoted member of her church community in Williamsburg, Sheila’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her gentle presence and kind heart touched those around her, offering comfort and wisdom to all who knew her.
Sheila was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ellen and Donald Winters, her beloved husband, Henry “Jo Jo” Shepard, and her cherished children, Morgan Weston and Sean Maisey. Her memory will forever be held dear by her surviving family: her grandchildren, Molly Weston, Mcewan Weston, Samantha Wesley, and Martha Jane; her son-in-law, Matthew Weston; her daughter-in-law, Marsha Maisey; her beloved stepchildren, Damien “Jonas” Shepard and Jason Shepard; and her sister, Annie Bishop (Jan).
Sheila’s life was a testament to the strength of familial bonds and the beauty of a life well-lived. Her warmth, compassion, and unwavering love will be profoundly missed but never forgotten by those who had the privilege of knowing her
