Sherry Clayton passed away April 11, 2023, in Chesapeake, Virginia surrounded by her family. Sherry was born on December 1947 to her loving parents, Samuel A. Mobley and Shirley Joyner Mobley.

She met the love of her life, John “Danny” Clayton, at a dance bar called Fifth National Banque in Norfolk, VA where John saved her from T. J. the D. J who would not take no for an answer. Sherry and John were married in October 1983. Sherry had 4 children from a previous marriage to David Lindsay (deceased) of Pittsburg, PA.

Sherry is predeceased by her parents; sister, Linda Rudd; and daughter, Robin Lindsay.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Danny Clayton; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jason Doering, VA; and her sons, David and Brian. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Matthew O’Connor, Sean O’Connor, Kelly O’Connor, Kyle O’Connor, Ashley Doering, Shianne Orr, Kayla Lindsay, Ryan Doering, and Katie Doering; her niece; Dawn Kubiak; and her niece’s
daughters, Jordyn, Meagan, and Lindsay; as well as a host of friends and coworkers. Sherry’s family was her everything. In her spare time, she was an excellent cook, and she enjoyed
knitting, sewing, and quilting.
