Virginia Beach- Shirlee Thompson Lowe Lindsey, 83, of Virginia Beach, daughter of the late Lee George Lowe, retired comptroller of New Orleans, LA, and Evelyn Alphonsine Thompson Lowe, homemaker, peacefully passed away on October 23, 2018. Her daughters, Gwen Christin Lindsey and Diane Robin Lindsey Keith, surrounded her with love during her passing.
Born in New Orleans, Shirlee graduated from Tulane University and in 1955 married Austin Monroe Lindsey, U.S. Navy (Capt., d2016, age 85) (divorced 1995). In 1962, they settled down in Va. Beach where Shirlee worked first as a Lab. Technician at Va. Beach General Hospital. Shirlee returned to graduate school at Regent University, graduating in 1991 and practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Shirlee survived her sisters, Evelyn Thompson Lowe and Marion Lowe Danos. She is survived by her daughters, Gwen and Diane, by Diane’s children, Madeline Pamela Keith, Bailey Lindsey Keith, and Skylar Gwen Keith, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As a young woman, Shirlee committed herself to the Lord and her faith never wavered. A faithful member of her church, she worshiped Him and continually sang praises to Him. In many of her final earthly words, she thanked Him.
A memorial will be held at 12:30 pm on October 28 at her church, Abounding Grace, 445 Kempshire Ln., Va. Beach, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to her church, or to a charity of choice.
