Steven Lee Spiers, a lifelong resident of the Virginia Peninsula, passed away surrounded by love. He was born on January 31, 1957, in Newport News Virginia, the beloved son of Bernard Spiers and Betty Neher. He is survived by his mother, Betty Neher of Newport News and his sister Susan Choquette, and her husband Robert of Gloucester Virginia.
Steve worked for many years as an HVAC technician where his dedication and skill earned him the respect of his colleagues and customers alike. Steve played in a number of bands across the area, and was the keyboardist for the band Slick Trick for the past 17 years. Steve’s talent inspired not only fellow musicians, but all that knew him. He enjoyed lifting the spirits of those who came out to watch them perform.
His Mother Betty shared “I love both my children dearly. Susan and I will both miss our beloved Steve, his smile and his love. He will always be in our hearts”. His sister Susan and her husband shared he was “the best brother ever, and the best friend anyone could ever hope for”. Those who knew Steve will remember his quick wit, warmth and generosity. He never missed a birthday or special occasion and was always ready for a cookout or gathering with friends and family. Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will be forever remembered for his kindness, humor and the light he brought to their lives.
