Thurman Luther Misco, 91, of Virginia Beach, VA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. He was born in Gary, West Virginia to the late Stephan and Jessie Misco. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie, 11 siblings, and his son-in-law, Mark Painter.

Thurman served in the US Navy for 20 years and went on to work for GSA in Norfolk for 21 years before retiring in 1991. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and a teacher. He kept active on their softball team where he earned the nickname “Hotdog”. He enjoyed being outside whether it was fishing, hunting, or tending to his garden. 

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Ramona Painter; son, Gary Misco, and his wife, Selena; daughter, Melissa Green, and her husband, Joe; son, Terry Misco, and his wife, Gail; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren who affectionately knew him as Papa Hotdog.

A celebration of Thurman’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church, 4832 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455. A reception will follow the service.
