Tom Lefebvre loved life.
He liked staying active and doing home repairs. He built a deck, shed, and screened-in porch and made furniture. Other than oil changes, he drew the line on car repairs…the cars went in the shop.
He was surprised to learn he loved vegetable gardening. Being an Engineer, rows had to be straight and evenly spaced. He didn’t stop at gardening though; he was an equal partner in canning and freezing the produce.
He liked playing board games, working on puzzles and was good at chess. He was known to cheat at dominos and chinese checkers and thought he was slick enough that nobody would notice.
He enjoyed trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, and Japan, as well as travel throughout the lower forty-eight. He loved to pick the restaurants on vacations and drove his wife and daughter crazy by agonizing over the reviews and menu before finally choosing one.
He was a natural at the sports he attempted in his adult life: tennis, golf, biking, rollerblading, and skiing. In fact, it was at the Snowshoe Ski Resort in West Virginia that he met his wife, Debbie. They were married for close to 40 years.
He and his daughter Hannah enjoyed spending time together outside, riding bikes and going to the park. They spent countless hours watching movies, painting suncatchers, playing board games, and building lego towers.
Tom’s brothers, Leo (Lois), David (Lorena), and sister Dolores (Bobby), got together each summer in Vermont. It was a week of relaxation, competition, and laughter. Later in life, they added a week in Hilton Head to their winter schedules. What wonderful memories these times brought!
He retired in May 2008 from the MSDDC Transportation Engineering Agency after 30 years of service. It was here that he developed some of his closest friendships.
He gave really good hugs! We are going to miss those from him!
