It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tony Ray Ginn, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us on March 22, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on January 28, 1943, in Virginia Beach, VA, Tony was a lifelong resident of his hometown, where he touched countless lives with his warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and work.
Tony’s career began as an electrician at the Portsmouth Shipyard, where his hard work and commitment were evident in every task he undertook. After retiring from the shipyard, he continued to share his expertise in construction with Chesapeake Bay Contractors, lending his skills to projects that helped shape the community he loved.
Outside of work, Tony found joy in the great outdoors, with hunting and fishing among his favorite pastimes. These hobbies were not just activities for him; they were opportunities to bond with family and friends, instilling in them a love for nature and the simple pleasures of life.
Family was at the heart of everything Tony did. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Betty Lou Ginn; parents, Walter and Lessie Ginn; son, Lee Ginn, and daughter-in-law, Lisa; son-in-law, Leo; and his siblings, Shirley Mosley, Bud Ginn, and Barbara Wise. Despite these profound losses, Tony’s spirit remained unbroken, and he continued to be a source of strength and inspiration to those around him.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his devoted daughter, Wanda Bona, and her husband, Jeff; his daughters, Elizabeth Ginn and Elaine Elu; his seven grandchildren, Josh, Ryan, Cortney, Hailee, Emmalee, Angelica, and CJ; and six precious great-grandchildren, Armonie, Aniyah, Ailani, Aileyah, Kehlani and Wylee. His sister, Jackie Elliot, also survives him, alongside many friends who will forever hold his memory dear.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the residence of his daughter, Wanda, beginning at 3 PM, Saturday, March 28, 2026, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the remarkable life Tony lived.
