Valerie Jane Carter, beloved daughter of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in Norfolk, VA, at the age of 72. Born on May 22, 1953, Valerie dedicated her life to the well-being and happiness of her family.
As a devoted homemaker, Valerie’s greatest joy and priority was nurturing her family, creating a home filled with love, warmth, and laughter. Her compassionate spirit extended beyond the walls of her home; Valerie was a passionate dog rescuer, always ready to open her heart and home to animals in need.
Valerie shared a deep love of the outdoors, finding peace and joy in nature’s embrace. She cherished the simple pleasures of life, whether it was enjoying a serene walk surrounded by nature’s beauty or horseback riding with her dear husband, Edward Waldo Carter, who preceded her in death. Their shared passion for horseback riding became a testament to their enduring bond and love.
Valerie leaves behind a family who will miss her dearly: her brother, Tennison Wood, Jr.; sister-in-law, Lynnette Graeff; niece, Courtney Wood Cabrera; and stepchildren, Brittany Carter and Brandon Carter. Each will carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family.
Though services for Valerie are private, her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. In moments of reflection, may we remember the profound impact one life can have when lived with love and devotion.
