Virginia Ann Jones of Newport News went to the side of the Lord on December 10th 2021. She was born in Trumbull, Connecticut to Raymond Christopher Jones and Mary Virginia Jones and graduated from Trumbull High School. Before becoming a resident of Newport News, Virginia, she lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Italy, and New Orleans. Her education included the University of Connecticut, Nathaniel Hawthorne College, The University of Albuquerque, and Marywoods College, majoring in Business Administration. She started her career at Sikorsky Aircraft in Connecticut and also spent 7 years as a Records Management Analyst for the State of New Mexico Records Center & Archives.

Most recently Virginia served the City of Newport News Water Works Department for 23 years before retiring in 2017. As owner of VAJones Associates since 1983, she was well known in the Records Management field teaching and mentoring others all over the world. She made friends everywhere she went and belonged to many national and international associations such as AIIM (Association for Information & Image Management), ARMA (Association of Records Managers and Administrators),  IIMC (International Information Management Congress), and ICRM (Institute of Certified Records Managers). She loved to teach others and recently taught courses for Wayne State University.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Deidra Jones Pflomm of Crestview, Florida; her brothers, Thomas Christopher Jones of Tacoma, Washington, and Edward William Jones of Crestview, Florida; nieces, Amy Jones of Emeryville, California, Jazmine Jones of Crestview Florida and Elizabeth Allen of Port Washington, Wisconsin; and four wonderful grand nieces, Rayne Rhinehart, Jaidyn Bane both of Crestview, and Eden Allen and Delany Allen of Port Washington, Wisconsin.

A memorial burial Ceremony will be held in Crestview Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity that helps the disadvantaged. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to vacremationsociety.com.
