Virginia Florence Buckley, born on December 18, 1943, in Taunton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 81.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who dedicated her life to the service of her family and community. Early in her career, she worked as a customer representative in communications. However, it was her husband’s military career and the raising of her beloved family that became her true calling.
A devout Catholic, Virginia was an active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, where she was known as a Prayer Warrior. Her faith was a guide for in her life, and she spent many years involved with St. Mathews Catholic School, where she made a lasting impact on the community through her commitment and service.
Taking care of her family was always Virginia’s priority. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, and her nurturing spirit and a constant source of strength and love for those around her.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Grace Reckard. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gerard Buckley; her two sons, Ian Buckley and Darren Buckley and his fiancée, Britain. Virginia leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Andrea, Grace, Emma, Sarah, James, Michael, Virginia, and Terrance, all of whom will carry forward her memory and values.
A service in honor of Virginia’s life will be conducted at 11am, Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Saint Mathew’s Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. May her family and friends gather in gratitude for her presence in their lives and take comfort in knowing she is now at peace.
