Wanda Lee Mowery (Wendy) 70, of Newport News, VA, passed away at home with family, on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 2:53 PM. She was born to Hilda (Kitty) Gorham and Lynwood Gorham (both deceased) in Alexandria, VA in February of 1953.

Surviving family include her Husband, Terry Mowery; children, Matthew Moffett and his partner, Joseph Naquin, Shane Mowery, and Shawn Mowery; grandchildren, Jackson Moffett, Aurora Naquin, Jacob Mowery, Emily Mowery, and Anthony Mowery; siblings, Butch Gorham and his partner, Cheri Bohman, Patty Odom and her husband, Gary Odom, Penny B. and her husband, Kenneth (Kenny) B.; nieces and nephews, Christopher Odom, Kevin B. and Michael B. Wanda is preceded in death by her sister, Katherine (Kathy) Boulware; and her eldest son, Bobby Earl Moffett, Jr. She is survived as well by cousins, friends and other family, all of which will miss her beyond words.

A graduate with honors of Thomas Alva Edison high-school in Alexandria, VA, Wanda loved roller skating, gymnastics and Girl Scouts while growing up. Later in life she found a love of games / game shows, pool tables, bingo and preparing amazing meals for her family during gatherings. Wanda was a beloved Wife, Mother, Meemaw, Sister, Daughter, Aunt, and Friend, whom will forever be missed and cherished! Wanda held many positions in her life, a few of which were Realtor, Waitress, Store Owner and even working Carpentry jobs. No position she held had priority over her being a Mother and Meemaw. She would sacrifice anything for her Children and Grandchildren and her heart was truly made of gold. She was small in stature but always MIGHTY in presence.

Through many years of battling cancer, and other health challenges, she no longer knows the pains and chains of this world. She now walks with the Lord and she has joined her loved ones that passed, before God called her home.
