On Friday, May 18th the beautiful soul of Wayne Johnston was liberated from this life and taken home to his brother, Mike and his beloved Granny. We celebrate the life lived by an artist, son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather and friend. His amazing sense of humor and heart lifting spirit will live on through his children and grandchildren. His artistic nature will continue to be forever immortalized in murals, paintings and his favorite, comic strips and graphic designs. The sounds of his Elvis karaoke and infectious laughter will be heard by all who loved him for many years to come. He cared deeply for the ones he loved and worked endlessly to show it, whether it was drawing pictures on his daughter’s lunch box (a new one each school day), making mix-tapes for his sister, playing monopoly with his brothers, taking care of his grandson when he was so young, or making his mother smile, even on days when smiling could be so difficult.
Wayne Johnston is survived by his parents, Sam and Mildred Johnston; his brother and sister, Curt Johnston (Debbie Johnston) and Willi Mira; his sister by love, Donna Plowman (David Plowman); his two daughters, Melanie Olmstead (Brian Olmstead Sr.) and Samantha Bowyer (Jerry Bowyer) and 3 grandchildren, Brian Olmstead Jr., Celeste Olmstead and Ayla Bowyer, as well as, countless other family members, nieces, nephews and friends.
Please join us in celebrating Wayne’s memory on Thursday, May 24th at 6:00 pm at Langley Baptist Church 116 E. Little Back River Road Hampton, VA 23669.
