Wendy was protective of her loved ones, loyal to her friends, and devoted to her faith. She grew up in Burton, MI, the third of five children. She graduated Atherton High School in 1967. She married her high school sweetheart, Timothy Rahe Speckman Sr. in 1970. They had two children, Jennifer and Timothy Jr.
Wendy loved children and God. She volunteered in her church daycare and church office. Wendy began working as the secretary at Faith Lutheran Church around 1986 and remained there until 2001 when she and her husband moved to Ft. Wayne, IN where he entered Concordia Theological Seminary. Wendy volunteered in the Seminary Clothing Bank. Upon Tim’s graduation, he and Wendy returned to Flint, MI where they served at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Wendy was a dedicated and supportive Pastor’s Wife, which was a time-consuming and often thankless role that she completed with grace and love.
Wendy moved to Manhattan, KS in 2021 to live with her daughter’s family, and they all moved to Virginia Beach, VA in June 2025 where Wendy’s son and his family live. Wendy was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in July 2025 and was received by her Lord on August 23, 2025.
Wendy was preceded in death by her husband, Tim, in 2013 and her parents, Chester and Laura Wilkinson. She leaves behind the following family who dearly love her: children, Jennifer Prewitt and Tim Jr.; daughter-in-law, Kirsten Speckman and son-in-law, Dave Prewitt; grandchildren, Christopher Speckman, Kate Speckman, Andrew Speckman, and Christian Prewitt; siblings, Diane Wilborn (twin sister), Mark Wilkinson, and Kent Wilkinson; as well as many more family and dear friends.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 12534 Holly Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439, at 11:00 a.m. with lunch provided afterward. Visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
