William, affectionately known as Bill (husband, father, and grandfather} was born on September 11, 1940, and passed away on July 26, 2025, at 9:30am.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Woodrow Talley Keating Sr and Florence Seay Keating and brother Richard Gordon Keating Sr. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Melissa (Marsh) Keating, his brother Woodrow Talley Keating Jr. (June), his sister Sandra Keating Waterfield (Charles), his children William Robert Keating Jr., Lisa Wojcik (David) and Sean Christopher Keating (Aimee), four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill retired from the Norfolk City Police department, Chesapeake City Police as a school crossing guard and the Navy Exchange System as the overseas shipping supervisor.
One of his most proud accomplishments was his service in the Masonic Fraternity 61 years Berkley Lodge 167, Scottish Rite 55 years, and a member of Khedive Shrine Temple 54 years, of which he held many offices. He rode in the Harley unit and was Captain of the Provost Unit in 2010. He drove Shrine children to the various Shriners Hospitals for the Road Runners Transportation. Bill was a member and past president of the Virginia Beach Shrine Club and distributed banners for the MASA Shrine convention. He was a founding member of the Rod and Gun Club where they took children hunting and fishing. He was also affiliated with the Order of Quetzalcoatl, Los Tres Monos Teocalli #117 and was past Camaxtli.
One of his favorite things was riding his beloved Harley Davidson and was the founding Director of the Tidewater Harley Owners Group. He also loved fast cars, his last one being a Dodge Charger Hellcat.
Services for William Robert Keating Sr. will take place at Khedive Shrine Temple located at 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, Virginia, 23320 on August 9, 2025 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Khedive Transportation Fund or Zulekia Court No. 35 general fund.
