John George Zajch, Jr., a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 80. Born on August 27, 1945, in Pittsburgh, PA, John lived a life full of warmth, kindness, and a genuine love for those around him.
John spent much of his career as a dedicated Manager in the retail industry, where he was known for his leadership and personable nature. After retiring, he found joy in working with Lyft, where he delighted in meeting new people and sharing stories, adding a personal touch to every ride.
Outside of work, John had a passion for planting and gardening, nurturing life with the same care and attention he gave to his relationships. A true Steelers fan, he enjoyed cheering on his team with fervor, embodying the spirit of Pittsburgh.
Preceded in death by his loving parents, John and Esther Zajch, John leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Carole Zajch; his son, John D. Zajch; his daughter, Jennifer Hughes, and her husband, Mike; his niece, Lorie O’Toole, her husband, Ray, and their daughter, Sophie O’Toole. John’s presence will also be missed by his two loyal dogs, Brady and Benny, who brought him great joy.
John’s legacy of friendliness and warmth touched many lives.
