So very, very sorry to hear of Butch’s passing. My most sincere sympathy to his family. I knew Butch from Roosevelt Gardens, we lived two streets from each other, back in the mid 1950’s.

I met Butch in the summer of 1959 when we moved near Buss’ Texaco Gas Station. He was 19 at the time. It did not take long to hear that there was a cute guy, in a Texaco uniform who wore shorts, and had the most sexy legs, who worked there. If that was not enough, he soon bought a cherry red 1957 Chevy. I was just 11, but could see what they were talking about. Hardworking does not even begin to describe Butch. I remember when he got his arm caught in the escalator, at the old JC Penny’s in Norfolk. His boss accidentally turned the switch on, not realizing Butch had his arm working between two steps. That injury never stoped him and his abilities. Never met anyone like him, who took so much pride in their work, and loved working so much. Love him like a brother I never had. Ginger, our love and prayers extend out to you, Kim, Pam, Denny and all those who loved him. We will continue to be here for all of you.

"Mr. Butch" as I knew him growing up next door to the Courtney family in Arrowhead, was an unstoppable force. Everyone on the block talked about how he was always busy. Many fond memories of growing up with all of them. So sorry for your loss Ginger, Kim, Pam, Denny, and all other family.

Butch and Ginger are the best neighbors a person could ask for. Ginger was the party planner for our court and we enjoyed many dinners together. I will miss Mr. B so much; I already do. I would see him out in the yard working every evening and on weekends. I lost a friend. Be at peace. Ginger, you have my support and love.

Butch was so much more than just a "friend" to me. He and Ginger have been a giant part of my life for almost 40 years and I am going to miss Butch very much. I pray that Ginger will find peace knowing that she will be reunited with Butch one day and knowing he will still be working on their heavenly home and God's lawn. Butch's whole life was Ginger and his work. I will forever love and miss Butch.
