Alan Frank Purington passed away on Sunday March 12, 2023. He was born in Mannheim, Germany on December 19, 1961 to Margot and the late David H. Purington.

Alan graduated from Denbigh High School in 1980 and earned his Bachelors degree in history from CNU in 1984. In his work life he remained devoted to history as a maintenance supervisor for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for 22 years. His free time was spent enjoying books, spending time with his family, having deep conversations about WWII and his German roots and eating at his favorite restaurant with his nieces and nephews.

Alan leaves behind to forever cherish his memory, his mother, Margot; brothers, Keith, Paul, and Erek Purington; nephews, Patrick and Douglas Purington; nieces, Tesla and Hannah Purington; great niece, Zoey Rimmel; and great nephew, Darrick Rimmel, Jr.; along with the many friends he has made over the years. In addition to his father, Alan was preceded in death by his niece, Apryl Rene Purington.
