Alan Harold Wade, 77, of Virginia Beach, VA died on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Princess Anne Hospital. Born in Newark, NJ to the late Harold Arthur Wade and Beatrice Irene Wade, he graduated in 1962 from Kearny High School in New Jersey.
After high school, Alan attended Bloomfield Theological Seminary and Liberal Arts College. Upon Alan’s graduation from college he joined the US Navy. He served in Vietnam for many years and received the Vietnam Gallantry Cross after his return. He served on numerous ships: USS Long Beach, USS Theodore E. Chandler, USS Bainbridge, USS Nimitz, USS Barney, and USS Coral Sea during the Libya Crisis. He served 26 years in the Navy and retired as MMC. Alan furthered his education by graduating Summa Cum Laude from ECPI, receiving his associate in Computer Electronics Technology. He retired from Cannon Information Technology Services, Inc. in Chesapeake, VA where he held many awards for his achievements.
Alan’s main hobbies were fishing and photography. On family outings, vacations, or sports events, Alan was known to have a camera in his hands and was constantly clicking away, capturing every moment. The family is so grateful that they have fond memories to look back on and beautiful photos to view.
He is survived by his wife of almost 38 years, Evelyn Wade; three children: Harold Christopher, Beatrice Ann, and Alan Edward; two grandchildren: Kindel and Andrew; three sisters: Susan, Ellen, and Janice.
Per Alan’s request, no viewing will be held.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Church of the Ascension located at 4853 Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach. His ashes will be placed in the church columbarium right after the Mass followed with military honors. The family invites you to meet the family in the Hall church following the ceremony.
