Allen Wade Austin, born on May 15, 1962, in Hampton, VA, passed away peacefully at the age of 62 on March 24, 2025, in Newport News, VA. Throughout his life, Allen found joy in both his work and his passions. As a dedicated Manager at Home Depot, he was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and ability to inspire those around him. His professional life was marked by a commitment to excellence and a genuine care for his colleagues and customers. Outside of work, Allen embraced life with a spirit of adventure and camaraderie. He loved riding his motorcycle, often exploring new roads with his friends by his side. Music played a central role in Allen’s life, with Pink Floyd and Aerosmith providing the soundtrack to countless memories. He cherished moments spent at William Styron Square, where he found peace and inspiration. A man of faith, Allen was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church, where he found community and strength. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Allen is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sandra Lee Austin, as well as his grandparents, Lonnie and Grace Austin, and grandmother, Esther Baynon. He is survived by his loving parents, Larry and Louise Austin, and his mother, Gwen Austin. His sister, Dawn Ritton, and brother-in-law, Kevin Ritton, along with nephews Ian and Jon Ritton, and his wife Shianne Ritton and their daughter Lucy, and a loving extended family that will forever hold him close in their hearts. Friends who were like family, including his best friend Tim Hancock and dear friends Laurie and Rainy Artman, will continue to celebrate his life and legacy.
Services to honor and remember Allen’s remarkable journey will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Homes 12893 Jefferson Ave, Newport News, VA 23608 on April 5, 2025 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.
In remembering Allen, we are reminded of the importance of living life fully, cherishing friendships, and finding joy in the simple pleasures. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, resilience and courageousness that will inspire many for years to come.
