With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Andrew Graham Baird, 62, on February 25, 2025, after a long battle with early onset dementia.
Andy was born on June 20, 1962, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Frederick Baird Jr. and Natalie Rebecca (Baird) Forchas. After graduating from John Yeates High School in Suffolk, Virginia (1980), he attended Virginia Tech for 2 years. He then transferred to Old Dominion University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management.
After graduation, he began a long career in the electrical supply and lighting design industry.
Andy had many interests such as biking, bowling, golf, hiking, and music (especially Bruce Springsteen). The Boss’ music gave him great comfort as he battled health issues during the past several years. But Andy was happiest when he was with family and friends. He touched many lives with his kindness and generosity and dedicated much of his time helping his family. He was an excellent cook/grillmaster and loved to prepare amazing dishes at family gatherings.
Andy was preceded in death by his father, Fred. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Becky, daughter Marina, brother David and his wife Cheri, brother, Keith and his wife Jeanie, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A service will be held at Harvest Fellowship Baptist Church 19290 Battery Park Road, Smithfield, VA 23430 on March 25, 2025, at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
