Anne J. Whitmore Virginia Beach
Anne Jarrett Whitmore died on June 8, 2011, at the age of 79. Anne was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, and spent most of her young life in Port Norfolk where she lived with her grandparents Ida Armistead and her beloved Papa Armistead. Anne spent most of her adult life as a resident of Sandbridge where she and Bob raised four children. Anne was the co-founder of Hobie’s Boutique of Sandbridge, a favorite shopping spot for women vacationing at the beach in the 70s and early 80s. Anne will be remembered for her warm heart, beautiful sense of style, and gorgeous white hair. She was devoted to her children, her ten grandchildren, her friends and her bicycle which she rode daily. Anne’s children, Bob Whitmore and wife Karen; Julie Whitmore Scherrer and husband Kevin; Dickie Whitmore and wife Allison; and Hobie Whitmore and wife Melissa wish for their mother a cold glass of pinot grigio and a warm breeze blowing by the ocean as she makes her journey to heaven. A private family ceremony will take place in Sandbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne’s memory to the Sandbridge Volunteer Fire Department or to the Alzheimers Association of Virginia. Written condolences may be addressed to The Family of Anne Whitmore, c/o 233 Marsh Island Drive, Chesapeake, Virginia 23320. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
