Ardath Owen Devitt passed away peacefully on September 8th, 2024, at Charter Senior Living in Williamsburg, Virginia, at the age of 101. Ardath was the daughter of William and Genevieve Hoffman of Stockton, California. She lived a long, full life, and witnessed many changes in this world. She married, Robert C. Owen, the boy next door and love of her life, also of Stockton, in 1942. Robert (or Bob) served in the Air Force as a Lt Col until his death in 1966, and they were stationed at Langley AFB, Virginia, Alabama, California, Washington, Hawaii, and Japan. She survived polio in the 1940’s and breast cancer in the 1980’s. She enjoyed telling many stories from her life experiences. Her family is grateful for the love and care she received in her final days from Heartland Hospice and the staff of Charter Senior Living.
Ardath is survived by her son Robert W. Owen and his wife Peggy, of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, and her daughter, Kimberly Owen Brown, and her husband, Robert (Art), of Ellijay, Georgia. Ardath had five grandchildren: Emily Owen Wagenheim, of CT, Danielle Owen Foley of PA, and Luke Owen of MA, as well as, Brittany Brown of Brisbane, Australia, and Alyssa Brown of Blue Ridge, GA. Great grandchildren include: Benjamin Owen and Cecilia Owen of MA, Jaxson and Owen Wagenheim of CT, and Pearce Foley of PA.
A Celebration of Life will be held Nov 2nd at the Braemar Creek Clubhouse from 2:00-5:00. Family, friends, and caretakers, as well as, all who knew Ardath are invited to attend.
