Aribert Otto, 83, passed away on January 29, 2022. He was born in Heilsberg, Germany on July 18, 1938. Aribert was a wonderful chef. He held many positions during his career, including working in research and development for Pillsbury and Nestle and working at Gourmet Gang in Norfolk for over 10 years (special thanks to Claire). Aribert was a member of the German Club of Norfolk for many years.

Aribert is predeceased by his sister, Hanna Huber. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jennifer Glade (Chris) and Heidi Senft (Howard); grandchildren, Lucy Senft and William Glade; nephew, Christopher Huber (Janet); niece, Claudia Huber (Joe); great-nephew, Josh Huber a.k.a. “Chinaman”; former spouse and best friend, Carol Otto; and many extended relatives and friends.

Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Aribert’s memory to a charity of your choice.

Mr. Bert as he was affectionately called was one of the kindest and funniest people I have ever met. He and worked together for nearly 10 years and he never ceased to amaze with his wit and his culinary skills. His humor of the tragedies of his childhood and his escape from East Germany were amazing to hear. His deep accent and ever present smile still resonates today. I speak of him often regarding our days working together and the banter he would have with Clare in the kitchen. I just recently learned of the loss of this great man and it brings a tear to my eyes as I only have the memories of him. Rest well, my friend and I look forward to the jokes and laughs when I get called home.

I will miss Aribert Otto very much. He was a wonderful dancer!! He was a good listener and could cut through problems with wisdom. Since he was from Europe he had a unique view point. The waltz was his favorite dance. He loved to walk in the evenings and had a wry sense of humor. We were friends . Kathleen Blair
