Portsmouth, VA – Ashley Michelle Davis, born on January 16, 1987, in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on June 14, 2026, in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 39.
Ashley was a dedicated Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the state of Virginia, where she served with compassion and professionalism at various funeral homes throughout the Hampton Roads area. Her work was not just a career but a calling, reflecting her deep commitment to supporting families during their times of need.
Ashley held an Associate Degree in Funeral Service, which equipped her with the knowledge and skills to excel in her profession. She was known for her kindness, empathy, and unwavering dedication to her work.
Ashley was employed by Turquoise’s School of Dance, Virginia Beach, Virginia where she served as lead Dance Instructor and Recital Director. The students were mentored by “Ms. Ashley” as she shared her Passion for Dance and the Performing Arts. Ashley studied dance under the direction of Thaddeus Hayes and Gail Harts Performing Company.
Her life was centered around her faith and family, two pillars that guided her every step. She cherished her time with loved ones and found joy and strength in their presence.
Ashley is preceded in death by her beloved son, Gabriel Herndon. She is survived by her loving mother, Velma Carla Saunders Davis, her devoted father, Michael Timothy Davis, her cherished son, Chaquan Herndon, her dear daughter, Zariyah Cornick, along with Zariyah’s father, Ryan Cornick and loving grandmother, Shirley Mae Moore.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held to honor Ashley’s memory. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family during this difficult time.
