Audrey Maxine Perkey

December 4, 1932 - September 25, 2023

She was a graduate of Iaeger High School in West Virginia. Maxine started working at the age of 16 at McCoy’s grocery store in Roderfield, WV. She married Lenvin I Perkey in 1955 and relocated to Norfolk, Virginia. They had one child, Lenvin R Perkey. Maxine worked as a store cashier and bank teller for 47 years. Her sole focus in life was to make life easier for her family, always helping when problems arose.

In addition to being predeceased by her parents, Maxine was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Lenvin, her sisters; Juanita, Ruby, Ruth, Glenna, and a brother, Jim.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Rudy and his wife Dolly, two grandchildren, Andy Perkey and his wife Charlee and Robert Rooks, and four great-grandchildren.

The immediate family will have a private memorial then her ashes will be interred with her husband Lenvin at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia. Mom Perkey was a part of my childhood and beyond. I ate many a meal over her house. I’ve known Mr. and Mrs Perkey for nearly 60 years. Rudy and I have been Best Friends for that long. Mom Perkey invited me to dinner every time I was there playing in the backyard with Rudy. There were many Christmas eves and some mornings together. Mom Perkey always wanted to make sure I received a gift on Christmas or my birthday that I really wanted. One year she even got me a new distributor for my 1966 Mustang! She made the best brownies I have ever had and always steamed the rolls when she made Hot Dogs or BBQ. When Dee and I moved out of Virginia I made sure I would call her early on Mother’s Day. More times than not she would laugh and tell me you beat Rudy! Her and Mr. Perkey attended my wedding (Rudy was my Best Man). Mr. And Mrs. Perky we’re even the God Parents of our oldest Son Eddie. There isn’t room to tell all the stories I can remember about mom Perkey. I just know she was a part of our lives for many years and I thank God for that.
