Virginia Beach resident Barbara G. Creed, passed away on Sunday January 8, 2017. Barbara was born in Boston, MA to Edward Lofton Gibbons and Gladys Constance Gibbons of Spanish Point, Bermuda. Barbara was raised in Bermuda where she resided until marrying Reginald W. Creed of Keyport, NJ.

Barbara resided in Long Branch, NJ with Reginald until 1994 and together they raised two children, Joseph and Derek Creed. Barbara worked as a secretary for the Federal Government for many years and then for the Long Branch Public School System until she retired in 1993. After retiring, Barbara moved to Virginia Beach in 1994 to be close to her younger son Derek who was attending school at Norfolk State University.

Barbara is survived by her son Joseph, her grandchildren Dazhon Derek Creed, Derek L. Creed, Carrington A. Creed, and Tylen Bell, along with her daughter-in-laws TamiRae Creed of Newcastle, WA and Kim Wright Creed of Freehold, NJ. She is also survived by her sister Gloria Heggie of Stoughton, MA and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins both in the United States and in Bermuda.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday January 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach, VA. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to Hope for Life Rescue, Inc. 610 Jack Rabbit Road, Suite 1, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.
