Berdella “Dale” Dotson Boettner, 73, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family. Dale was born on June 10, 1951, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to Blanch Morgan and Ed Dotson. Both parents preceded her in death.
Dale was a long-time resident of Hampton, Virginia. She spent her career in the health care field, holding positions in nursing homes, doctor’s offices, and in the Riverside billing department, where she took the time to listen and compassionately help customers manage their accounts. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a beautiful smile, and a warmth that will always be remembered. The thoughtful gifts and cards she sent to family and friends will be cherished memories.
Dale is survived by her daughter, Melissa K. Boettner (Dave) of Hampton, Virginia, her brother, Charles Rickie Dotson (Linda) of Douglasville, Georgia, her sister, Bonita Dotson Tovey (Paul) of Yorktown, Virginia, and numerous beloved family members. Dale’s family would like to recognize her close friend, Cheryl Spencer, for her help and kindness during Dale’s illness, along with all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Riverside Hospice.
At Dale’s request, there will not be a public memorial. Instead, the family will hold a small gathering to share happy memories, followed by an ash scattering ceremony in the James River, a location that held a special place in her heart.
