Beth Olson Richardson 1959-2025

Beth Olson Richardson, 65, of Newport News, Virginia passed away on
April 09, 2025. She was the daughter of Sharon and Richard Olson, born on October 7, 1959, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Beth’s family moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1977. She attended the College of Charleston and graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. She later earned a master’s degree from the Medical College of Georgia. During her professional career, as a registered physical therapist, she held positions in Charleston, Augusta and Spartanburg. During her tenure at Tidewater Physical Therapy in Newport News, Virginia, as a certified hand therapist, she felt great satisfaction helping her patients recover from injuries and regain strength.

Beyond her professional career, Beth was a talented artist and enjoyed projects for her home. She and her late husband loved boating in both the Chesapeake Bay area and Lake Bowen, South Carolina. She was totally devoted to Newby, her beloved golden retriever mix, who preceded her in death.

Beth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom McGee Richardson, whom she met in high school and her father, Richard Floyd
Olson of Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is survived by her mother, Sharon Freed Fulk of Greenville, South Carolina and her sisters, Dr. Julia Childers McClure (Steve)of Greenville, South Carolina and Rebecca Olson Fairey (Joe) of St. Matthews, South Carolina. She was an aunt to a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date to celebrate Beth’s life and legacy.
