Bettie Sue Westland passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the hearts of those around her with her kindness and warmth.
Bettie Sue dedicated her professional life to teaching, having earned a Master’s degree in Special Education. She was passionate about her work and made a lasting impact on the lives of her students. Her career was marked by her dedication to nurturing and educating young minds, always striving to make a difference.
Outside of her profession, Bettie Sue held a deep love for quilting and embroidery, crafting beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her family for generations. She found immense joy in singing in the church choir, where her faith shone through in every note. A woman of profound faith, she drew strength and comfort from her beliefs throughout her life.
Her heart belonged to her family, whom she loved above all else. Bettie Sue grew up with a love for the beach, especially the island of St. Simons, Georgia. In quieter moments, she could often be found with a book in hand—whether it be a mystery, romance, or educational tome. She was also delighted in playing the piano, filling her home with music and joy.
Bettie Sue was preceded in death by her loving parents, Julian and Mary Ewing. She is survived by her children, Sue Ellen Carvil, Mary Ann Price, and John Westland, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
In accordance with her wishes, a small ceremony will be held with her immediate family in a place close to her heart, allowing them to celebrate her life with the intimacy and love she cherished so deeply.
Bettie Sue will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her faith, and her generous spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
