Betty Jean Holdren Skaggs, 80, was called to heaven on June 30,2015. Betty was born on June 30, 1935 in Boomer, West Virginia. She was a native of Hampton, Virginia for 44 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Ballard and Nellian Holdren, her husband Robert Skaggs, her daughter Ronda Skaggs, her son Robert Skaggs Jr., her brother William Holdren, and granddaughter Jeannalynne Riley. She was a Sunday school teacher in West Virginia. Betty went to cosmetology school and later became an instructor at The Virginia School of Hair Design. Betty was a foster parent with Hampton Social Services for many children where she won many awards and recognition for her poetry. She loved doing crafts and even at the age of 79 she still loved to dance and do the jitter bug. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Robin L. Coburn ( Bobby Coburn) of Hampton and Pam M. Starling of Hampton. Her son Patrick “Jamie” Skaggs (Tabitha) of Hampton. Her Grandchildren Ronda-Marie Haywood, Cindy Wygans, Bobby Coburn, Pj Skaggs, Jesse Skaggs, Jeremy Skaggs, Bo Skaggs, Brandon Skaggs, and Lance Skaggs. Her Great- grandchildren Catarina Brown, Makenzieanne Wygans, Shealon Ferguson, Kailey Haywood, Lee Ferguson, Tyler Haywood, Peyton-Reney Haywood, Brian and J.J. Skaggs all from Hampton. In remembrance a candle light vigil will be held. She was the best mom, grandma, and me-maw and all the memories she left behind will never be forgotten.
